	-----Applied Chemical Technology, Inc. was founded in June 1981 by A. Ray Shirley, Jr. as an engineering firm providing consulting service to the chemical industry. Demand for ACT services immediately grew, and ACT now employs a team of professional engineers, designers, laboratory and computer technicians, and master craftsmen, as well as business and support staff. Applied Chemical Technology specializes in the design and construction of large and small scale production plants for innovative chemical products and processes. Fabrication services were added in 1984, and have since grown to include custom laboratory apparatus as well as production equipment. Today, Applied Chemical Technology occupies a complex located in the Florence-Lauderdale Industrial Park in Florence, Alabama, with 20,000 square feet of office and laboratory space, and 33,000 square feet for fabrication and pilot plant facilities. -----As we look forward to ACT's bright future, we must pause to reflect on ACT's accomplishments from our beginning in 1981. ACT has experienced a steady growth in both personnel and our capabilities to serve our clients. The company has grown to be a multidimensional engineering company offering development assistance to our clients through our laboratory and pilot plant services, process engineering, design, and fabrication. Our fabrication shop is ASME code certified. Our services include electrical engineering with capabilities for automation, computer control, programming, and panel building.
----It has been a great pleasure for me to be a part of this company and to witness the growth of the company from those humble beginnings in 1981 to the vibrant innovative industry leader we have become. ACT is a leader in the areas of fluid bed design and construction, having designed and built batch and continuous fluid beds for reaction, coating, granulation, and the more common uses of cooling, heating, and drying. We are the world leaders in the development of processes for controlled release coatings for materials and all types of granulation. We routinely work on projects for the industrial chemical, fertilizer, food, fine chemical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries.

----- At Applied Chemical Technology we understand the sensitive nature of every project, particularly when a project involves new or proprietary technology. That's why we offer every client the security of signed secrecy agreements. With ACT your project is kept completely confidential, both during the project and afterwards. ACT also believes that our work for you belongs to you. We will assign any patentable developments from your project to you, and assist in applying for these patents with the United States Patent Office and the patent authorities of other countries.
